Essential elements for your body’s balance
Electrolytes (calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, zinc) play a vital role in our bodies. Sufficient levels of these are essential for proper muscle function, maintaining good hydration levels in the body, and acid-base balance.
Electrolytes are essential for enabling muscle fibres to contract and relax, particularly sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium.
Electrolytes, and particularly sodium, help regulate the body’s water volume. A high level of electrolytes enables the body to store more water and thus promotes rehydration.
Electrolytes are minerals that carry an electrical charge in the body’s fluids (water and blood). Their presence maintains acid-base balance.
Pure Electrolytes combines scientific expertise with experience in high-performance sport to ensure you benefit from the best possible hydration.
Maintaining adequate hydration is key for the body. Taking supplements containing electrolytes can support electrolyte balance and cellular function, helping to replenish the essential minerals lost through bodily fluids during training.
The benefits:
- Helps maintain performance during prolonged endurance exercise (associated with maltodextrin)
- Helps increase water absorption during physical exercise (associated with maltodextrin)
- Contributes to normal muscle function: potassium, calcium, magnesium
- Contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system: potassium, magnesium, vitamins B1, B2 and C
- Contributes to normal energy metabolism: calcium, magnesium, vitamins B1, B2 and C
- Contributes to reducing fatigue: magnesium, vitamins B2 and C
- Protects cells from oxidative stress: zinc, vitamins B2 and C
Our formula is available in a handy powder form, ideal for mixing into your water bottle. We offer refreshing flavours such as lemon and strawberry, designed to be consumed before, during or after physical activity without adding empty calories or excess sugar.

Preventing dehydration and drops in performance
When you sweat, your body loses up to 1.5 litres of water per hour. During endurance activities (marathons, trail running, cycling, etc.), your body loses up to 3 litres of water per hour. Sweating also leads to a significant loss of mineral salts (your sweat is salty!).
During intense training sessions in very hot conditions, the loss of sodium, chloride and other minerals through sweat is very rapid. These salts are what you need to prevent a drop in performance, especially when exercise is prolonged and water alone is not enough.
Whilst your daily diet provides sufficient minerals under normal conditions, an increase in sporting activity – and therefore in perspiration – requires additional intake of electrolytes.
As the body’s electrolyte levels determine its hydration status, athletes will seek to replenish these electrolyte reserves to aid rehydration.
Even mild dehydration (1–2 per cent) leads to a 10 per cent reduction in physical capacity.
Pure Electrolytes will ensure good hydration and, therefore, help maintain a consistent level of performance during exercise.
Supporting muscle function
Muscle contraction enables the body to move. This muscle function is controlled by the somatic nervous system. The brain sends messages to the muscles in the form of nerve impulses to trigger muscle contraction.
Sodium and potassium are responsible for nerve transmission. When the brain signals a muscle to contract, sodium flows into the nerve cell whilst potassium flows out. The reverse occurs when the muscle relaxes.
This nerve stimulation causes calcium ions to enter the muscle cells, allowing the muscle to contract, and these same calcium ions to leave, enabling the muscle to relax. As for magnesium, its role is to regulate the entry and exit of calcium ions in muscle cells.
The importance of acid-base balance
Determined by pH, the body’s acid-base balance is vital for health. The lungs and kidneys use potassium, magnesium and calcium to regulate the pH level in the blood in order to maintain acid-base balance.
A diet high in sugars or intense physical exercise can lead to excess acidity in the blood. To combat this imbalance, the body draws on its mineral reserves (calcium, potassium, magnesium).
This demineralisation leads to numerous long-term health problems: brittle bones, osteoarthritis, muscle pain and stiffness, and tension in the back and neck.
A supply of electrolytes helps to counteract this demineralisation.
Recover better with electrolytes
Studies have shown that people who sweat following physical exertion or in intense heat all had an electrolyte deficit (sodium, zinc, magnesium, etc.). As the body cannot produce these itself, electrolytes are obtained exclusively through diet and hydration rich in mineral salts.
Unfortunately, it has been shown that water alone is not sufficient to meet the needs of athletes following a sporting activity that involves sweating.
After exercise, hydration combined with sodium will aid recovery. Magnesium and vitamins B2 and C will enhance this recovery as they help to reduce fatigue.
Pure Electrolytes contains all the essential nutrients for effective recovery.
We have also enriched the blend with vitamins and minerals such as calcium, magnesium and potassium. This combination can promote muscle relaxation and more efficient recovery after demanding sessions, ensuring your body gets what it really needs.
