Better absorption thanks to water-soluble curcumin
95% Curcuma Longa extracts are poorly absorbed because their molecules are not water-soluble: they struggle to pass through the intestinal barrier and are subsequently eliminated in the stools, with very little entering the bloodstream. The effect on your body is minimal.
Nutripure’s Active Curcumin is encapsulated in complex plant-derived sugars called cyclodextrin. Cyclodextrin, a hydrophilic molecule, encapsulates the curcuminoids and acts as a protective and transport coating in an aqueous environment. When dissolved in water, it easily crosses the intestinal barrier into the bloodstream, unlike 95% turmeric extracts.
The complex sugars are then ‘broken down’ by a pancreatic enzyme (hydrolysis), releasing the curcuminoid molecules, including curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin.
This hydrolysis releases maltose, maltodextrin and a small amount of glucose (1 g per day, which is safe for the body).
The liver then carries out various metabolic cascades on the curcuminoids, generating active metabolites.

Scientific studies have demonstrated the superiority of the curcumin used by Nutripure (Cavacurmin®: γ-cyclodextrin curcumin) compared with other available forms.
We draw on a randomised, double-blind therapeutic trial comparing the absorption of various forms of turmeric at the same dose in curcuminoid equivalents:

- Turmeric extract + phospholipids
- Curcumin + turmeric essential oils
- Curcuma longa extract 95%
The study was conducted following a 10-hour fast.
Repeated blood samples tracked changes in curcuminoid levels (curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin) in the blood up to 12 hours after administration.
